Getting Started:

The steps to home education?  Here they are:

 

  • Register with a Cover School, also called an Umbrella School. Cover schools can be quite different from each other.  Research several and talk to the administrator.  Find out what they offer and what the fees are.  Will they be available to help if you have questions down the road??

  • Choose a curriculum:  There are so many different curriculums available that it can seem overwhelming.  Consider your childs learning style and then look at curriculum that follows that style.  

  • Join a support group:  Most cover schools have a support group also.  If not, find one.  The amount of information you can get from other home educating families can be invaluable.  The other parents can help you with curriculum, field trips can be posted, etc.  It's a great amenity for your homeschool journey.  You  may also choose to join one or  more support groups on Facebook.  These groups can provide invaluable information, along with ideas and suggestions from seasoned homeschooling parents.

Please be aware that recent law changes state that a family can apply with the State, as a private school, in order to homeschool.   For more information, please read this article as written by the Home School Legal Defense Association.

FEE SCHEDULE

​

REGISTRATION FEE:

  • $125.00 per family (up to 3 children), per year.
  • $25.00 per child, (after the 3rd child, per year)

For instance, if you have 5 children, your registration fee would be $125.00 + $25.00 + $25.00 = $175.00)

 

RE-REGISTRATION FEE:

  • SAME AS FIRST TIME REGISTRATION FEE

 

LATE FEES:

  • A fee of $25.00 will be charged in addition to the registration fee, if re-registration is not received NO LATER THAN AUGUST 1, of the enrollment year.  This fee does not apply to new families.

 

RETURN CHECK FEE:

  • A return check fee of $30.00 will be attached to all checks returned by payers bank. 

 

ADDITIONAL ENROLLMENT:

  • If a family is enrolled with Cross River Academy and wishes to enroll an additional child mid-year, there is no additional registration fee, unless that family already has 3 children enrolled.

 

SCHOOL RECORDS:

  • The records sent to Cross River Academy are the property of the parent/guardian of the enrolled child(ren).  We keep these records on file and will mail them to the parent/guardian upon written request.  There is no additional fee for this service.

 

STUDENT I.D & TEACHER I.D.:

  • Student and Parent ID cards are not available at this time, however, there are several internet resources where they can be obtained.  You can also purchase a student ID card at www.hslda.org

 

TRANSCRIPTS:   

     Please be advised, the rules regarding transcripts MUST be followed.

  • TWO Graduation transcripts are free at the time of graduation, if sent with the Diploma.
  • Additional graduation transcripts are available for $5 each. (If paid via PayPal, there is an additional $1 fee)
  • Rush transcript requests carry a $25.00 rush fee.  A rush transcript is one needed without a 14 day written notice.
  • You may use this form to request a transcript.  This form is in PDF Format.
